Pet gala: Coutured canines recreate celeb looks at fashion show

This Met Gala look landed AOC in the dog house — so it’s only fitting that a plucky pooch pays homage to it at an upcoming pet gala.

Two-year-old Edna the Runt will strut her stuff in a mini version of the socialist pol’s “Tax the Rich” dress during the upcoming Griff Gala — a black-tie ‘paw’-ty exclusively for Brussels Griffons.

“Edna’s very passionate about progressive fiscal policy, but also it was the easiest one that I thought was really identifiable and clear who it was,” owner Gabriella Zutrau told The Post ahead of the four-legged fashion show, which will be held May 7 at The Sanctuary on Roosevelt Island.

Zutrau, a model and political consultant who lives in Bushwick, created Edna’s look by ordering a dress made for kittens — her fur baby is only 4-and-a-half pounds — then hand-stenciling the message that Rep. Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez had emblazoned on the back of her custom Aurora James gown.

Plenty of A-listers will be getting the K-9 treatment.

“There is going to be a Beyonce look … the big yellow Rihanna dress,” noted gala organizer Laura Burkart.

This year, around 70 Brussels are on the guest list, with some flying in from as far as Toronto, Los Angeles, and Texas.

The coutured canines, many of them dog influencers on TikTok and Instagram, will be gifted with a swag bag that includes a custom dog tag in the shape of Anna Wintour.

Burkart hired professional dog costumer Lynne Correia, who designed outfits for a dozen other gala attendees, to craft an ensemble for her 6-year-old Brussels named Hendrik.

It’ll mimic the one Jared Leto donned in 2019 when he wore a scarlet Gucci garment — and carried what looked to be his own head as an accessory.

“I wanted something totally over the top,” she said. “And then I found this amazing woman who recreated a replica of his head.”

There will even be a canine couple, Cowboy and Twixie, who got married last year, dressing as Kylie Jenner and Travis Scott from their 2019 Met Gala appearance.

“They usually win Best Couple at the costume events,” Burkart said.

Tickets cost $100, which includes the owner and dog, and there is a charitable raffle, whose proceeds will be donated to the nonprofit National Brussels Griffon Rescue.

The show has roots in a now-defunct Meetup.com group that turned into an organization called NYC Griffs, where Burkart is the top dog.

She’s been planning social events for five years for the “relatively rare” toy breed.

The event would not be complete without its own red carpet — and Burkart is hopeful there won’t be any accidents on it.

“That’s always a hazard,” she said. “But most of them are pretty well trained.”
